The National Space Challenge (NSC) is an educational program designed in an effort to instill the talents and interests as early as possible, especially those in the primary school students towards the understanding of astronomy and space sience. The program is organized annually by the National Space Agency (ANGKASA) in cooperation with the Division of Co-curriculum and Arts, the Ministry of Education as an educational program ahead of conventional school curriculum.

The NSC has entered its 16th year since it was first introduced in 1997 as the Quiz of Space Science Prime Minister's Trophy at primary school level. Since 2005, the process of selecting students into the final competition was revamped in which students are required to undergo a series of learning processes in terms of practical exposure. This concept has received encouraging response from various parties, especially school students and teachers. It has proven to revolutionize the science programs in Malaysia and becomes a new benchmark for science education programs in the future.

ANGKASA hopes that this program will continue to inspire talent and enthusiasm of local young people in exploring space science and understand the benefits of space as a platform for knowledge generation.

  1. To instill the talents and desire in Malaysian young generation in the field of space science;
  2. To build up students' scientific research skills;
  3. To learn about the concepts and techniques in space science;
  4. To provide experiences in science concepts and processes;
  5. To appreciate the need of space science for individual and country; and
  6. To inspire teamwork coorperation value among students.
